Never, ever let your time get you down since it's always the finish that really matters in the races! I've done the 50 mile Grand Slam and do NOT count out Hell's Hills as not as tough! haha The heat and humidity will sneak up on ya! I'll be running the marathon at the Grasslands so I'll be looking for ya! Also, the Grasslands would be another great run for the VFF's! Peace! And good luck!
MarkMark C. It was a beautiful trail and I cant wait until next year to do it again. Love the blog and am glad you have the same thoughts as I did about the trail. I like to think I am a strong runner, but that trail will humble you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570878861567245493.post-61463786871825807792010-02-23T10:51:51.756-08:002010-02-23T10:51:51.756-08:00Paul -- what a great description you give of the t...Paul -- what a great description you give of the trail! I especially love your definition of "technical". Made me laugh as I remembered teetering on the brink of one of those loooong steep uphills. If it makes you feel any better, this was a PR for me as my slowest 50 miler yet. Wow, is that a tough course. I am so impressed with your finish only 2 weeks after RR -- you are one tough guy! Congrats and go get 'em on the TX grand slam! cindy melderAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570878861567245493.post-58414986514674290512010-02-22T17:59:58.570-08:002010-02-22T17:59:58.570-08:00Paul, enjoyed getting to talk with ya on our gruel...Paul, enjoyed getting to talk with ya on our grueling run in the peanut butter like mud. I hope to see you running on another trail in the future. Your description of this trail was dead on!! You seemed to capture all of the gory details :) Keep on running!!!! -LauraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570878861567245493.post-86396228329493115722010-02-22T12:39:04.977-08:002010-02-22T12:39:04.977-08:00Congratulations, Paul! I had no idea you considered dropping. I'm glad you didn't.

As for Kelly...well, she's a saint. I know I couldn't have gotten through this race without Don's support. He watches her all week and had to watch her on the weekends too during my training. We wouldn't be able to do these races without the support of our spouse.

Congrats again!Shishananoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7570878861567245493.post-70750283932771538522010-02-22T11:32:39.650-08:002010-02-22T11:32:39.650-08:00Paul...there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed o...Paul...there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of....that is a freaking hard course with a whole parade of really good runners DNF'ing that flipping course.
